A lovely illustration from a rare vintage British book

A wonderful engraving of a Tudor Christmas feast - the cook holds a boar's head aloft while another holds a platter laden with peacock. A boar's head, elaborately garnished with bay and rosemary was often served as the centrepiece of Christmas feasts, as did the peacock in the homes of the rich. A really lovely, unusual period Christmas image
