A really beautiful illustration of a group of gnomes or pixies, charging out of a gloomy, shadow-filled wood, only to be confronted by a White Rabbit popping his head out from a blackberry bush... They are falling over themselves trying to escape. Wonderful vibrant colouring and although not signed this is almost certainly by Thomas Maybank, one of the finest fairy illustrators of the period - a wonderful period illustration.
