| Antique print - Wonderful Girls Cat School out on a Stroll 1911 Louis Wain A wonderful drawing by the master cat illustrator, Louis Wain. From a rare British annual. An absolutely lovely image of a girl cats' school outing, complete with stuffy school marm bringing up the rear. The young girls are dressed in all their fluffy and frilly finery - in bonnets and frocks - such wonderful Wain faces… But trouble lurks behind in the form of a most disreputable stripy sleek cat wearing shiny top hat and black tails, his young ward in tow. You just know he's in for trouble… What sort of suggestion he made to the girls, I do not know, but the schoolmarm has clobbered him with her brolly and the train are now heading in the opposite direction in a huff. The sign on the wall says "Love's Labour's Lost" - Such a wonderful image by the inimitable Louis Wain. Mounted on a stunning jet black mount with a slight sheen. |
