Lovely Antique Cat Gas Lamp Dog Policeman Print 1904 FREE Shipping

A wonderful image of a pair of terrors caught in the act of snuffing out the gas street lamp. A wonderful dog policeman has one of them by the tail... These adorable cats are by 'Officer Smith' - I can find very little information on him, except that he illustrated a number of children's annuals in the early C20th. These cats are very like Louis Wain and I've heard mention that this is a pseudonym of Wain but cannot verify this and although there are similarities, there seems to me to be a definite difference - if anyone has any information on this I would be very pleased to hear. However, Wain or not, I think they are at least as desirable as Wain cats and would make a worthy start to a new collection.

There is some slight brown spotting to the print - to the face of the cat who has been caught by the tail Please Note: There is very faint shadowing from the text/pictures on the reverse of the print. This is hardly noticeable and does not detract from the beauty of the print.
