| Antique print - Beautiful Art Nouveau Decoration from Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales 1931 Harry Clarke An early and rare image of one of Harry Clarke's superb illustrations from Hans Andersen's Fairy tales. Irish illustrator, Harry Clarke (1889-1931), together with Rackham, Neilsen and Dulac, was one of the finest illustrators of his time. As with Aubrey Beardsley, with whom he is often compared, some of Clarke's finest work was in black and white. A vivid and often macabre imagination informs his work, and his fairy tale illustrations are superb.A wonderful decoration from Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales - a stylised Art Nouveau drawing of a woman clothed in a beautifully ornate dress & cloak, with flowing hair, framed and surrounded by wonderful floral decorative detail - a lovely period illustration. Mounted on a stunning jet black mount with a slight sheen. |
