| Antique print - Beautiful Art Nouveau Style Fairy Tale Witch 1931 Harry Clarke An early and rare image of one of Harry Clarke's superb illustrations from Hans Andersen's Fairy tales. Irish illustrator, Harry Clarke (1889-1931), together with Rackham, Neilsen and Dulac, was one of the finest illustrators of his time. As with Aubrey Beardsley, with whom he is often compared, some of Clarke's finest work was in black and white. A vivid and often macabre imagination informs his work, and his fairy tale illustrations are superb.A wonderful image of a witch carrying a spiral, pointed staff, floral, check and art nouveau inspired motifs adorn her gown. A young girl is being carried on a boat toward the witch's house - intricate stonework, funnelling outwards and topped by a thatched roof.
