Beautiful illustration from an early and scarce edition of Washington Irvine's timeless classic Rip Van Winkle by the well-loved British illustrator Arthur Rackham.

A wonderful image of hosts of wee goblins running riot in Rip's bedroom - clambering over the beautiful, rose patterned curtained four poster bad, laughing in glee as Rip is scolded by his wife - "a curtain lecture is worth all the sermons in the world for teaching the virtues of patience and long-suffering" - and one goblin traipses around the floor trying to fit into Rip's shoes... beautiful colouring and detail to this lovely print

There is some slight marking caused by fingering of the print which is only really visible if held up at an angle to the light. This is hardly noticeable and does not detract from the beauty of the print.
