Beautiful illustration from a scarce edition of Lewis Carroll's timeless classic by the British illustrator Gwynedd Hudson. The illustrations to this edition are exceptional and earn Hudson a place amongst the best of the Alice illustrators.

Here the duchess in a splendid blue and black robe and bejewelled head dress whispering into Alice's ear. The hedgehog is trying to escape before he's used as a croquet ball again. Beautiful stylised black and red art deco flowers add a perfect touch to the foreground. A wonderful image

Very Good - Slight Marking
There is a small patch of surface marking just above the signature in the bottom left hand corner which is barely visible unless held up to the light at an angle. There is some slight marking caused by fingering of the print, which, again, is only really noticeable if held up to the light. This is hardly noticeable and does not detract from the beauty of the print.

Minor imperfections are to be expected from antique prints due to their age and in many cases this does not affect the appearance of the print. Any blemishes that are noteworthy are described and shown in the picture where possible.
