Lovely photographic reproduction of a painting, from an antique British Periodical. A vintage print not a modern reproduction.

A wonderful image of a mermaid perched among the rocks on the seashore, combing her hair. Her tail is curled around her body and a string of pearls nestle in a mother of pearl shell. From the painting by John William Waterhouse "The Mermaid", Exhibited for the Royal Academy in 1901.
In European folklore, mermaids (sometimes called sirens) and mermen were natural beings who, like fairies, had magical and prophetic powers. They loved music and often sang. Though very long-lived, they were mortal and had no souls. (Encyclopædia Britannica).

Very Good - Some Marking
There is some slight marking caused by fingering of the print, some shiny surface marking and a very faint bend down the left hand side of the print. Because of the colouring of the print, much of this can only really be seen if held to the light. This does not detract from the beauty of the print.

Minor imperfections are to be expected from antique prints due to their age and in many cases this does not affect the appearance of the print. Any blemishes that are noteworthy are described and shown in the picture where possible.
