| Antique Print Welsh Otter Hound Dog ArtA book illustration of a beautiful British dog breed photo. The print has a slightly faded look due to the reproduction process - which actually adds charm and gives an antique feel to the print. This is a dog of the grand hunting type, and although originally evolved for the hunting of Otters, is also used for Fox hunting. It is equally at home on land or in the water, and has a very shaggy coat of a yellow or a sandy colour. It is claimed that the Otter Hound is the ancestor of a number of breeds known to the present day show ring (1934), Bedlington Terriers being one example, and if comparison is made between the breeds, some similarity will be noticed, although, of course, the Hound is a much larger dog; in fact, at first sight it looks something like a small Irish Wolfhound. |
