| Antique print - Two Prints - Beautiful Fairy Poem -"Going to Town" by Elsie Blomfield 1916A lovely image from an extremely rare vintage British Children's bookA set of two images - A beautifully illustrated Fairy Poem "Going to Town". As always with Elsie Blomfield, the cutest illustrations. Two fairies (Fluff and Silverwings) climb into a nutshell being pulled by a snail (A1 Safety Coach) - it's only 36 inches to Town. They are on their way to market - a bee carries a pot of honey on her shoulder, and ripe berries, new laid moth eggs, a pot of dew, decorate the borders. At 35 inches to go, the fairies decide the snail is too slow and hop out to wait for another coach. This one is pulled by a Grasshopper, and the poor fairies have a very rough ride. When they arrive in town the snail is already there, feasting on iced dew. A really lovely period illustration.
This print would be lovely for a child's nursery |
